Mission Men Cohorts

Are you ready to jump into a foxhole of comrades helping each other live on mission?

A Mission Men Cohort is your call to action.

Discussion, Nurture, Accountability, and Multiplication are our core values to develop you as a disciple-making disciple of Jesus Christ. Led by a field-tested Cohort Leader, your cohort of 3–5 men will meet every week or two to engage with biblical resources, sharpen your soul, fortify your faith, and train you for battle as a man of God.

Your mission awaits.

  • 1. What is a Mission Men Cohort?

A Mission Men Cohort is a group of 3–5 men led/facilitated by an approved, trained, resourced, and mentored Cohort Leader. Cohorts meet virtually or in person at least twice monthly to (1) discuss a Mission Equip resource, (2) nurture one another in a supportive and transparent gospel-shaped community, and (3) be accountable to fellow Cohort members for personal sanctification and missional living, with the goal of (4) cohort multiplication, as new leaders arise within Cohorts.

Following a biblical model of discipleship (2 Timothy 2:1–7), our vision is that Cohorts form as an aspiring discipleship-minded leader actively gathers a few men from his immediate circles (Christians and non-Christians from one’s family, friends, neighbors, work, or church) to ask hard questions, be vulnerable, discuss biblical resources, nurture one another relationally and spiritually, and be held accountable for personal growth in living on mission for Christ in a world that wars against the soul. As new leaders emerge, the process repeats itself, the gospel speads, and new disciples are made and matured.

    2. How do I join a MM Cohort?

Just fill out this form to join an open Cohort of your choosing near you! Alternatively, you can select the “View all Cohorts” link to see what open groups are meeting in your area and “Contact” the leader or “Request to join.”

    3. What do I need to do to become a MM Cohort Leader?

After filling out this form, you’ll be contacted about joining the next Cohort training to get you up to speed on the mission and methodology of starting and leading a new MM Cohort, or registering a group you already lead to become a MM Cohort.

    4. I am already meeting with/leading a men’s group. Do we need to become a MM Cohort?

We’re enthusiastic about any group of men meeting regularly to grow in Christ. There’s no obligation or need to become a MM Cohort. But we believe doing so has many advantages. It just depends on your goals for your group.

    5. What are the advantages of my current men’s group becoming a MM Cohort?

MM Cohorts have the advantages of (1) Mission Men & Mission Equip oversight, (2) leadership training, (3) resourcing, (4) ongoing mentoring, and (5) publicity on the SMC website to help interested men in your area find your group—if you’re in the market for any of that.

    6. How do I register the group I currently lead as a MM Cohort?

After filling out this form, you’ll be contacted about joining the next Cohort training on the mission and methodology of registering and conducting the group you already lead as a MM Cohort.

    7. What’s the difference between the men in my Mission Group meeting and participating in a MM Cohort?

At SMC, we highly encourage the men and women in our Mission Groups to regularly meet up in gender-specific capacities to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. While the men in a Mission Group can become a MM Cohort, there is no requirement to do so. MM Cohort members, however, benefit from cross-pollination, where a man can be engaged with the men in his Mission Group and also be a part of any MM Cohort of his choosing based on his location, schedule, or friendships.
